Sean O’Conner was born in Tulsa, Ok in 1985 to a teenage mother. For much of his childhood he bounced around between the homes of various family members. Due to various circumstances Sean spent most of his teenage years and young adult life estranged from his mother and father. His childhood was spent in poverty often moving from place to place due to evictions. His family often lived without water or electricity for periods of time.

Sean graduated high school with honors and received a scholarship to the University of Arkansas where he enrolled after high school. During his senior year of high school, he joined the Army Reserves and was deployed to Iraq in 2004 where he made the decision to remain on active duty.

Sean would go on to spend 21.5 years in the US Army and graduated in the 10% of the Warrior Leaders Course, Advanced Leaders Course, Senior Leaders Course and Master Leaders course. Sean would earn a Bronze Star, 2 Meritorious Commendations, 7 Army Commendations, and 3 Army Achievement medals. Sean did several tours in Iraq, spent two years in South Korea, and 3 years in Germany. During his time in the military, he went on to earn a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in American History.

Sean and Amber have been married for 20 years this October and met while Sean was training in Huntsville, Al at Redstone Arsenal. They have four kids: 2 19 years old twin boys, a 16-year-old daughter, and 14-year-old son.

Sean and Amber have been active in the Church for many years. In 2010 while attending a small church in Chaparral, NM they were asked to help lead several short-term mission trips to the Navajo Brethren in Christ Mission. It was during these trips that their family fell in the love with the people of that community. Upon Sean’s retirement from the Army, they decided to move to the mission to live full time. Sean was appointed Director/Pastor of the mission in January of 2024. Amber works full time for the Army as a contractor and oversees the finances and mission team outreach for the mission.
