Lincoln County Commission Meeting Standoff

The Tuesday, April 5, 2022 Lincoln County Commission meeting was anything but average.  At the end of a very full agenda was the topic of absentee ballot drop boxes for discussion and action.  The room was packed, standing room only, and many citizens waited in the lobby for hours for this item.  After four and half hours of waiting, the drop box topic was finally up for discussion.  However, the chair of the commission only allowed the proponent to speak, shut down Commissioner Joel Arends as he was explaining the agenda item, and did not allow for any  public input.  The crowd displayed their exasperation with the commission and left the meeting.  The public pressure helped lead up to the events of April 8, where the legal notice was posted on the county website discontinuing the use of drop boxes.
